Lift-and-shift without a cost model

Most VMs cost more in the cloud than on-prem if you simply mirror sizing. Right-sizing, reserved capacity and storage tier choices are where savings live.

No infrastructure-as-code

If your cloud environment was built by clicking, it cannot be reliably rebuilt. Terraform from day one prevents the next 3am incident from becoming a 3-day rebuild.

Forgetting identity, DNS and egress

These three quietly break migrations. Plan Entra ID/AD integration, DNS cutover and data egress costs before you move the first workload.
